Ripon Cathedral Entertainment Concert

Leyburn Band have never before played in such a grand venue as that of Ripon Cathedral and on the 2nd June we played with 6 other bands from as far away as Portsmouth. Organised by Lee Whitworth (Ripon City Band conductor) and Peter Gilby (Band Secretary) the Entertainment Concert is an annual event for 3rd, 4th and Unregistered bands. Leyburn played Goldcrest (including singing!!!!), Concerto de Aranjuez, Blaenwern, Circle of Life (yet more singing!!!!) and finally Trouble in the Air.

There were a few hiccups getting used to the acoustics but once we got going we were fine, good enough to have won the best 4th and Unregistered section trophy, another one to add to the steadily growing collection which we are all very proud of. Our congratulations go out to Ripon City Band for winning “Most Entertaining Performance” and for winning the contest overall for the first time ever. Well done! Also we’d like to say a massive thank you for the hospitality shown to us for the use of the band room for warm-up and for the heavy use of the bar after the performance. Much appreciated!
